India and china are holding 15th round of military talks today the aim of the talks
are to ease tensions between the two countries the two sides will try to resolve
outstanding issues that have caused friction along the line of actual control
now these talks will take place on the Indian side of the Churchill Maldo meeting point according to sources so far 14 rounds of talks have resulted in
resolution of north and south bank of pan-gong so in gal-wan and Gogura hot spring
areas both sides will now focus to achieve resolution in other remaining Areas and
for more on this we on principal diplomatic correspondent Sudan Sybil is joining
us live thank you so much for joining us India and china holding the 15th round
of talks today what can you tell us about some of the key issues on the agenda
this time well the key focus this time will be on the resolution when it comes
to friction area pp that will be the key focus we know that in the previous
rounds of talks the disengagement had been achieved in the north and the south
bank of Bangkok lake Gogra that was one of the key fiction areas but
nonetheless we know that both sides have been engaging with each other at least
on the military level now we know that just few days ago the Indian foreign
secretary was speaking at an event and talked about that whatever happens at
the border will have a wider ramification when it comes to India china
relationship and we have seen that happening the Indian government in past few
months in fact in last two years have announced number of measures including when it comes to more scrutiny
when it comes to Chinese investment by a banning of the Chinese Apps but these
talks are important because these are the first such talks between India and
china since the Russian invasion of Ukraine now that has essentially divided
the world this is the new iron curtain
and that is an example for India and China as well on how a deterioration
relationship can impact not only the region but the wider world so there have been comments coming from
the Chinese foreign ministry and the foreign minister as well but by and large
both sides will be trying to focus on easing the tensions at the line of actual
control.
