Understanding digital warfare : Ukraine under attack

 

 

The digital sphere is increasingly important in modern warfare and so we have armies of cyber soldiers who are engaged in that conflict as we speak and we'll hear more From ass now on how all of that is unfolding when it comes to the Ukraine conflict in the Ukrainian war there's a war that is being fought in the land and then there's another war that is being fought over the cyber space i'm currently in  an apartment in an undisclosed location of Kiev where i'm with Andres who has been at the forefront of hacking uh Russian website his group has been at the forefront of hacking Russian websites let's have a word with him thank you so much for Andres for taking our time and speaking to v yon can you just tell us why you're doing this and what is your motive printer why i'm doing this just i'm one of thousands of people who are doing this to fight Russian propaganda and we are doing anything we can just to stop lies Because Russian brain is hacked or zombies okay every Russian believes that they should fight in the war that they Should increase their empire you know by taking that territory this territory that territory like Georgia , Moldavia , Moldova ,  Britney , strodia , Armenia whatever Chechnya two wars they lost so far much more soldiers than they lost in both wars in Kitchener okay Ukrainian army is super equipped and super patriotic everybody is killing Russians just i don't know it has never been yet done before how big is this group of volunteers you have look there is uh 69000 subscribers some of them are real hackers some are just trying to Help some are spreading the word around the global world how to do it how many websites have you hacked  especially specifically from Russia in the past  two weeks or so since the invasion began i don't know it's hard to estimate maybe 20 maybe 30 maybe more right i want to show you something really interesting  okay somebody hacked Russian  Cards That are now not working all these cards there is four megabytes of text of just cards Look and then and around all the card expiration date security code name on the card all those cards are Russian okay all those cards don't excuse me work Why because they were disconnected from swift you can try to pay with this card for anything on online on the internet No it doesn't work apple pay doesn't work google pay doesn't work nobody will accept this discovery you've been working in support with the government has the government asked you right now government says said please Ukrainians do anything you can this was Like how did i say they just asked for help and i could have said okay we can help yeah no problem let's go do this do that destroy this destroy that yes uh somehow broke into the TV stream in Russian internet channels and on air channels and now they are showing  real-time bombing of different cities of Ukraine on Russian channels so there must be big wave of anger among simple people in Russia and they must riot and then just they will overthrow their own government there you have Andres who's running a group of hackers here from Kiev uh in Ukraine sitting in the capital and helping and aiding his government to help to hack into Russian servers and try to aid and support the Ukrainian Government.
