UK detects a steady rise in Covid Cases, over 346,000 people test positive in last 7 days

 


Corona virus infections appear to be rising again in England especially among older adults this after a broad decline since a peak in January the react covert 19 monitoring program shows that around 1 in 35 people in England was infected with the virus last month and infections were rising among those aged 55 and older the monitoring program looked at almost 95000 home swab tests taken in the month of February researchers say the increase may have been driven by more socializing since all corona virus restrictions were lifted in late February and possible waning from the vaccine booster dose protection official figures show that more than 346000 people tested positive in the last seven days that's a 46 jump on the previous week the study estimates that almost half of all the positive cases are a sub variant of the omicron variant which researchers say is more transmissible the British government lifted all mandated Covid-9 restrictions in England on February the 24th after infection rates and hospitalizations fell following a surge in December and January people who test positive are no longer legally required to isolate at home or cover their faces with masks in public places the tracing of infected people's contacts has also been scrapped UK authorities have published their draft terms now draft terms of reference for an upcoming public inquiry into the British government's handling of the Covid-19 Pandemic the inquiry will mainly examine how officials responded to the public health crisis and identify lessons to be learned for future pandemics
