Heavy rains pummel southern Philippines, 25 dead and 6 reported missing

 


Heavy rains caused by a summer tropical depression have killed at least 25 people in central and southern Philippines according to officials most of these deaths were caused due to the landslides that occurred as a result of the rain at least six other people were reported missing in the landslides and a search is currently underway although the rescue work was hampered by mud and heavy rain some residents managed to escape or were pulled out of the mar alive but many are still feared to be trapped as per the officials nearly 200 floods were reported in different areas in central and southern provinces over the weekend these floods have displaced about 30 000 families some of whom were moved to emergency shelters in a joint effort the coast guard police and firefighters have rescued some villagers flooded communities including some who were trapped on their roofs the military has also been called in to join the rescue work the tropical storm Maggie is the first major storm to hit the country this year and comes four months after super typhoon which devastated suites of the archipelago nation that killed more than 400 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless scientists have long warned about typhoons which are threatening which a restrengthening more rapidly as the world becomes warmer of course due to climate change the Philippines ranked among the most vulnerable nations to its impact which is hit by an average of 20 storms every year.

Pakistani Overseas Are In Action

 




"No Imran, No remittances” PTI supporters protest against “regime change” at Hyde Park, London. They were seen saying “we won’t send any remittances until Imran Khan comes back. 


According to the reports, Overseas Pakistanis withdrew money from Roshan Digital Account after the ouster of Imran Khanʼs elected government, claiming “they don't want their hard-earned money to end up in accounts of corrupt looters.”


So far, approximately 1.8 Billion USD has been withdrawn from Pakistan, which could ultimately deplete the forex reserves and thereby hit the economy.
