Iran nuclear talks stalled: European Union foreign policy chief announces pause

 

The European union has stalled the ongoing talks on the revival of the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal just days after confirming that the final draft of an agreement is almost ready according to Iran's state news agency their chief negotiator Ali Bahri khanI has left Vienna after he was notified about the pause in the talks the European bloc's foreign policy chief Joseph Bareilles tweeted that the pause was needed due to the external factors again just days after having blamed Russia for complicating the negotiations with fresh demands the Russian ambassador Mikhail Yolanda reacted to Eu's call for a pause saying that the conclusion does not depend on Russia only t least i can tell you that we are in favor from earliest conclusion of the talks and we are doing our best but please i repeat once again the conclusion does not depend on Russia only objectively there are others who need to settle there not problems but issues between Themselves last week Russia demanded guarantees that the western sanctions imposed on its economy would not affect its trade with Iran as per the original joint comprehensive plan of action that was agreed upon in 2015 Moscow had been expected to play an important role in the implementation of a fresh deal simply put Russia was expected to receive the shipments of the  enriched uranium from Iran the united states and the European nations rejected the idea saying that these demands have nothing to do with restoring the 2015 nuclear deal the new Russia related sanctions are wholly unrelated to the JCPO and should not have any impact on a potential mutual return to compliance with it or its ultimate implementation we also have no intention of offering Russia anything new or specific as it relates to the sanctions nor is anything new required to successfully reach an agreement on a mutual return to full compliance with  the control of negotiations started in late November last year between Britain , China , France , Germany ,  Iran and Russia with america taking part indirectly and negotiating through its allies their aim of course was to revive the 2015 joint comprehensive plan of action also known as the Iranian  nuclear deal something that was violated by the Americans unilaterally under the former president Donald Trump who described the deal as the worst negotiated deal in american history.
